Things I’m Tired Of Saying – A Mommy Rant

This isn’t exactly how I like to start my mornings.  I try really hard to wake up with a fresh start.  Let’s face it- parenting is hard.  Kids can completely drain you of everything that you are every single day.  At the end of the day, you can be completely exhausted, defeated, unsuccessful and feeling like you barely made it out of this day alive.  This feeling is more eminent when you have six kids because you have that much more going on and that much more can go wrong.  I try to wake up with a clear mind, forgetting the troubles of yesterday, and ready to face this day the best that I possibly can.  It’s hard to do so when you wake up to a destroyed house already, and the twins have taken off their diapers and played in their poop again.  No one ever wants to wake up to messes and poop.  Get real.

So, anyway, today started off badly.  I felt like as soon as I opened my eyes, I was already battling to make it through every little thing.  Sometimes that’s just how life is: it’s one battle after another.  My battle is mostly against these little people that are testing me and my patience.  They’re testing my words, my rules, my consequences.  Parenting is all about consistency because once you give in or go back on your word one time, then they press you into giving in another time.  Because of this, we have to say the same things over and over and over because we can’t let it slide, not even once.

I had an idea that maybe if I make a list of the things that I’m tired of saying, then I can get it off my chest and face this day with confidence so that it’s not repeating continuously in my head.  So here we go:

  1. Get that out of your mouth.
  2. Shut the door.
  3. Don’t let the cats inside.
  4. Clean up this living room.
  5. Why are you crying?
  6. Leave each other alone.
  7. Put that down.
  8. We aren’t trying to cool off the neighborhood.
  9. Why did you change clothes?
  10. No, you can eat again at lunch time/dinner time.
  11. Could you not look over my shoulder?
  12. Turn the TV down.
  13. I can’t hear myself think.
  14. Stop yelling at each other.
  15. Get back inside.
  16. I already said no.
  17. Be quiet; the babies are sleeping.
  18. Are you finished eating? No? Then go finish.
  19. Throw your trash away.
  20. I heard you the first time.

I think that’s enough for now.  I hope this method works. lol  Have a great day, everyone!
